How many of you knew there was a botanical garden in Haiti, this little corner of paradise and hope. The Botanical Garden of Les Cayes is a scientific institution that was founded on Sept. 3, 2003 in an area of 8 hectares. It is located between the two major biological reserves of the country: The Macaya and La Visite Park. This geographical location makes it a strategic location for the preservation of the Haitian flora. JBC is a member of the Global Network of Botanical Gardens (BGCI), the Network of Botanical Gardens Francophones (JBF) and the Public Gardens Association of the United States.
The garden is divided physically into five (5) thematic areas: an area of conservatory plants, horticultural area, ethnobotany space, ecological space and a production space (nursery). There are approximately 250 species (ornamental, forestry, fruit, medicinal, endemic).
The mission of the Botanical Garden of Les Cayes is to encourage the public to connect with nature through research, conservation, education and horticulture. Its vision is to transform the garden site in search space , conservation and education on biodiversity.
The garden advocates : excellence , scientific research and discipline. The main objectives of the Garden are: 1- Undertake and promote research on biodiversity; 2- Participate in the enhancement and conservation of biodiversity ; 3- Contributing to awareness and public education to become active and engaged citizens in the protection of nature; 4. Contribute to the development of horticulture , reforestation and ecotourism in Haiti.

Combien d'entre vous savait qu'il existait un jardin botanique en Haiti, ce petit coin de paradis et d'espoir.
Le Jardin Botanique des Cayes est une institution scientifique qui a été fondée le 3 septembre 2003 sur une superficie de 8 hectares. Il se trouve entre les deux grandes réserves biologiques du pays : Les Parc Macaya et La Visite. Cette localisation géographique fait de lui un endroit stratégique pour la conservation de la flore haïtienne. Le JBC est membre du Réseau Mondial des Jardins botaniques(BGCI), du réseau des Jardins Botaniques Francophones (JBF) et de l’Association des Jardins Publiques des Etats Unis.
Le Jardin est réparti physiquement en cinq (5) espaces thématiques: un espace de conservatoire des plantes, un espace horticole, un espace ethnobotanique, un espace écologique et un espace de production (la pépinière). Il compte approximativement 250 espèces (ornementales, forestières, fruitières, médicinales, endémiques).
La mission du jardin Botanique des Cayes est d’inciter le public à se connecter à la nature à travers la recherche, la conservation, l’éducation et l’horticulture.
Sa Vision est de transformer le site du jardin en espace de recherche, de conservation et de formation sur la biodiversité.
Le jardin prône : l’excellence, la recherche scientifique et la discipline.
Les principaux objectifs du Jardin sont les suivants :
1- Entreprendre et Promouvoir des recherches sur la biodiversité ;
2- Participer à la valorisation et la conservation de la biodiversité ;
3- Contribuer à la sensibilisation et à la formation du public pour devenir des citoyens actifs et engagés dans la protection de la nature ;
4- Contribuer au développement de l’horticulture, la reforestation et l’écotourisme en Haïti.
