The Caribbean is known worldwide for its fantastic beaches with beautiful sands, stunning turquoise waters, and welcoming hospitality. There are thousands of great shorelines in the region to experience, but here are the Caribbean’s top twenty-five beaches from A to Z.
Abaka Bay Beach, Haiti
Abaka Bay beach lies on Île-à-Vache off the south coast of the island. Minimally built up, this beach has a peaceful and natural beauty.
Anse des Flamands, Saint Barthélemy
Anse des Flamands beach is located on the northwest part of the island a few miles north of the capital city of Gustavia. Beyond its ample white sands, this beach is home to the elegant Cheval Blanc hotel where visitors can stay or eat. You can also take a hike from the beach to the semi-dormant volcano that some believe is responsible for forming the island.
Bathsheba, Barbados
Away from the crowds, Bathsheba beach can be found on the east coast of the island, so named for its mineral rich, white foamy waters that echo the milk baths Bathsheba is said to have bathed in. The waves here have made it one of the Caribbean’s prime surfing locations. Beautiful rock formations can also be seen here—broken off pieces of an ancient coral reef.
Cane Garden Bay, British Virgin Islands
Cade Garden Bay beach is located on the northwest coast of the island of Tortola. It’s a lively beach with several watering holes and eateries, as well as the centuries old Callwood Rum Distillery.
Dickenson Bay, Antigua
Dickenson Bay beach is on the northwest coast of the island. Its beautiful views, soft white sands, especially calm, warm, and clear waters make Dickenson Bay great for beachgoers of all ages.
Frenchman’s Cove, Jamaica
Frenchman’s Cove is located in Portland along the northeast coast of the island. Lush plants surround a freshwater stream, which flows into the ocean waters that lap up against the relaxing white sand beach at this 45-acre private resort.
Grace Bay Beach, Turks & Caicos
Grace Bay beach lies on the island of Providenciales—commonly known as Provo—Turks & Caicos most developed island. Its clear, warm waters, long coral reef, and the Princess Alexandra Marine Park make it a great location for snorkeling.
Grand Anse Beach, Grenada
Grand Anse beach is on the southwestern coast of the island, not too farm from the capital of St. George. The beach is free to enter and surrounded by hotels, food and drink establishments, and shops. Experienced scuba divers can also get a look at the Bianca-C, a sunken Italian luxury liner and one of the Caribbean's largest ship wrecks.
Îlet Pinel, St. Maarten-St. Martin
Îlet Pinel, located just off the northeast coast of St. Martin by Orient Bay, is a true Caribbean getaway. Neither cars, nor roads can be found here. Especially shallow waters and plenty of iguanas to spot make this beach great for families with small children.
Maho Beach, St. Maarten-St. Martin
Located on the northwest region of St. Maarten—the Dutch side of the island—Maho beach is famous for the planes that fly directly overhead into Princess Juliana International Airport just feet away. Plenty of food and drink spots are there from which you can watch the planes fly by.
Orient Beach, St. Maarten-St. Martin
Orient Beach is on the west coast of St. Martin—the french side of the island. It’s an eclectic beach and, like all beaches on St. Martin, clothing is optional here. Many eateries and bars are around, along with a variety of water activities.
Palm Beach, Aruba
Palm Beach is on the northwest coast of the island. It’s a public beach surrounded by many hotels, restaurants, and bars. Its calm, clear waters and coral make for good snorkeling and its many venues provide a good nightlife. And if you ever want some time away from the action and a little more waves, Eagle Beach is closeby just to the south (see below).
Pinney’s Beach, St. Kitts & Nevis
Pinney’s Beach is on the west coast of Nevis, north of the capital city of Charlestown. Open 24/7, this public beach is known for its beautiful sunsets. The longest beach on Nevis (about four miles), it can comfortably accommodate its many visitors who have the option of staying or eating at the Four Seasons it stretches in front of.
Playa Bávaro, Dominican Republic
Located on the northeastern coast of the island in Punta Cana, Playa Bávaro is 30 miles of beautiful white sand beach. Plenty of shady palms can be found to sit under, along with ample food and drink options and all kinds of water activities.
Playa Flamenco, Puerto Rico
Playa Flamenco lies on the island of Culebra off the east coast of Puerto Rico’s main island. You can take a plane or ferry to get to this quiet, uncrowded, white sand beach with beautiful views. Camping is also permitted here.
Playa Varadero, Cuba
Playa Varadero is situated on the Hicacos peninsula, which juts out from the northwest coast of the island. It is Cuba’s most famous beach with especially warm waters and white sands that gradually slope into the Atlantic. Many top-notch resorts can be found here.
Horseshoe Bay Beach, Bermuda
Horseshoe Bay beach is located on the southeast coast of the island in Southampton Parish. Its pink sands are beautifully interrupted by rock formations to explore.
Rendezvous Bay Beach, Anguilla
Rendezvous Bay beach can be found on the southwest coast of the island. This beach is home to the Dune Preserve bar and music venue owned by reggae singer Bankie Banx and the Moonsplash Moon Festival every March. It’s free to enter and a less crowded and more mellow alternative to the island’s Shoal Bay beach (see below).
Seven Mile Beach, Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands’ Seven Mile Beach is in the northwest section of Grand Cayman Island. It’s an uncrowded coral sand beach with great views and sunsets. It has calm, warm waters that are home to both coral and an abundance of marine life, which makes it a good spot for both swimming and snorkeling.
Seven Mile Beach, Jamaica
Jamaica’s Seven Mile Beach is located on the northwest coast of the island in Negril. This beach is free to visit any time and known for its calm waters, beautiful sunsets, and stimulating nightlife.
Shoal Bay Beach, Anguilla
Shoal Bay beach lies on the southwest coast of the island and is perhaps Anguilla’s most popular beach. There you will find beautiful sands, calm clear waters, and a portion of the island’s marine park system, excellent for snorkelers to explore.
Stocking Island, Bahamas
Stocking Island can be found in the Exumas, off Great Exuma, a water taxi ride from Georgetown. The island cultivates a relaxing, yet lively vibe and is home to a numerous stingrays to swim with. The famous Chat and Chill is the only sit-down restaurant on the island known for it’s Sunday pig roast, conch dishes, and especially tasty slaw. The restaurant even provides food for you to feed the stingrays that swim by. Hiking trails cross the island as well.
The Baths, British Virgin Islands
The Baths are located at the bottom of a hill near the southwestern tip of Virgin Gorda. They are an exquisite maze-like series of large granite rocks and boulders surrounded by clear pools of water. The 30 minute or so hike through The Baths leads into beautiful Devil’s Bay Beach. There is also a restaurant at the top of the hill.
Trunk Bay, U.S. Virgin Islands
Trunk Bay beach, located on the northwestern coast of St. John, is a part of Virgin Islands National Park. Here you will find warm, clear waters, coral reefs offshore, a 225 yard underwater snorkeling trail, and hiking trails through remnants of the island’s history.
White Bay, British Virgin Islands
White Bay beach is on the southwest coast of Jost Van Dyke island and is a prime location for bar hopping and parties and a popular stop for boaters.
