"Robe Karabela", " Chemise Karabela": Haitian style
"Robe Karabela" for women and "Chemise karabela" for men, are the traditional cloths made in Haiti and other country from the Caribbean. The quadrille dress is the folk costume of Jamaica, Dominica and Haiti. It is known by a different name in each country. In Haiti, we call it " Robe Karabela" for women or "Chemise Karabela" for men. You will see people wearing those kind of outfits for many occasions such as Carnaval, for a performance on stage, either singing traditional folk songs, for a tourist visit or a cultural event etc.
The "robe karabela" or "chemise karabela" usually has embroidery stitch of all kind, the most popular designs and patterns are the coconut trees and the word HAITI .
