Martha Jean Claude Femme aux deux Iles ( Mwen se Fanm 2 Peyi)
Martha Jean-Claude est née à Port-au-Prince le 21 Mars 1919, Martha est surnommée la " Grande dame de la chanson Haïtienne". Elle est aussi femme de théatre et militante politique. En 1952, Martha fut emprisonée pour ses convictions politiques. Pendant son exile à Cuba, elle a enregistré son premier album, ce qui lui a donné le titre de " la femme aux deux Iles" " fanm 2 zile". Martha était très populaire en Haïti, au Cuba, en Amérique Latine et l'Europe. Elle triompha au Palais des Beaux Arts à Paris et à " Las Casas de America" à Cuba.
Martha a partagé la scène avec le fameux chanteur Américain Nat King Cole et la reine de la Salsa Célia Cruz. Ses principales chansons à succès sont les suivantes: En 1956: Canciones de Haiti, Dodo titite, Kouzen, Martha canta a los ninos, en 1971 Disque d'or de Cuba, Yo soy la cancion de Haiti en 1975, Agoe en 1976, en 1995 elle lança " Mwen se fanm de Peyi.
Martha Jean Claude a passée toute sa vie à Cuba jusqu'à sa mort en 2001, elle avait 82 ans.
