One year extension for Haitians migrants living in Dominican Republic
Haitians leaving Haiti per thousands, looking for a better way to survive. They travel on boat, airplanes, bus and even on their barefoot, to USA, Bahamas, Turkey, Mexico , Dominican Republic to name a few. Haitians in Dominican Republic are being bitten, deported, marginalized and killed. But this Tuesday, July 25, the DR government granted one year extension to nearly 230.000 Haitians migrants who wants to renew or obtain residency or permits.
Back in 2013, a court ruled was created, it states that all children born in Dominican Republic from non citizens are not qualify for automatic citizenship because of their parents. This extension from Tuesday will allow more than 220.000 Haitians migrants to stay in DR. Even with the permit more than 100 Haitians were deported. What's the Haitian government doing to help our brothers and sisters in Dominican Republic? What can the rest of us do? Let's keep praying and hoping for a change.

Below are some pictures taken by the photographer Tony Savino showing the lives of the Haitians deportees. All their life savings, their hard work, and everything they own were taken from them. They were sent back to Haiti empty hands, no place to live, most of them had to live on a tent made out of cardboard without food.
